Anodyne Secures Funding from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada to Decarbonize Essential Farm Chemicals

Burnaby, BC | March 11, 2026 — Anodyne, a leader in sustainable chemical manufacturing, is proud to announce it will receive up to $1,236,310 in funding from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) under its AgriScience Program – Projects Component, under the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership (Sustainable CAP). This investment is dedicated to scaling the local, low-carbon production of formates and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2)—two pillars of modern agricultural productivity and food safety.

“By investing in innovative clean technologies, our government is helping create new economic opportunities and drive sustainability in British Columbia and across the country,” said the Honourable Heath MacDonald, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food. “Projects like this are essential as we work together to lower greenhouse gas emissions and build a stronger, more resilient agriculture sector for Canadians.”

As Canada’s farmers face increasing cost and environmental pressures, Anodyne’s proprietary bioelectric process offers a path forward. By using renewable electricity to convert CO2 and water into useful agrichemicals, Anodyne is effectively turning greenhouse gases into tools for farmers.

The Sustainable CAP is a $3.5-billion, 5-year agreement (2023 to 2028), between the federal, provincial and territorial governments to strengthen the competitiveness, innovation, and resiliency of the agriculture, agri‐food, and agri‐based products sector.

“I’m proud to see our government investing in homegrown technologies right here in our community,” said Wade Chang, Member of Parliament for Burnaby Central. “Supporting projects like this one puts one of our local companies, Anodyne Chemistries, at the forefront of low-carbon agriculture research in Canada.”

Decarbonizing the Agricultural Supply Chain

Traditionally, chemicals like peroxide and formate are produced in massive, centralized facilities and shipped across the globe, racking up significant costs and emissions. Anodyne’s approach allows for a decentralized, modular production, turning ag sector emissions into on-farm products.

  • Formates: Are a critical building block for animal feed preservatives and miticides.
  • Peroxide: Used extensively for water treatment, livestock hygiene, and eco-friendly pest control, Anodyne’s process eliminates the toxic byproducts of traditional manufacturing.

“The future of farming isn’t just about what we grow in the soil; it’s about how we produce the inputs that make farming possible,” says Iain Evans, CEO of Anodyne. “With AAFC’s support, we are proving that the transition to net-zero can actually make the supply chain more resilient and cost-effective for Canadian producers.”

Impact for Canadian Producers

AAFC funding will accelerate the deployment of Anodyne’s pilot-scale reactors, moving the technology from the lab directly to the field. This partnership aims to:

  1. Strengthen Agrichemical Security: Protect farmers from global supply chain shocks by enabling local chemical synthesis.
  2. Promote Circularity: Utilize captured carbon from bioethanol as a feedstock, closing the loop on emissions.
  3. Lower Carbon Intensity: Reduce scope 3 emissions of Canadian agricultural exports.
